Bariatric or heavy-duty ceiling mounted lifts are 600 - 1,000 pound weight capacity hoists that are guided by overhead track systems to lift, transfer, and transport heavier residents. These lifts can also be used to lift a resident who has fallen to the floor. Ceiling mounted lifts are raised and lowered by a motor that is activated via a control panel on the hoist or a hand-held remote controller. The lateral motion or traverse of these lifts is either motorized or performed manually. Ceiling lifts utilize a sling or harness to support residents as they are lifted.
The various track systems designed for these lifts are highly customizable, allowing them to meet specific lifting needs and the architecture of the environment.
